Plain yogurt does not sound cute at all. However, incorporating yogurt into your diet is really beneficial for gut health. It has probiotics in it that is good bacteria to keep everything nice and balanced in your belly.
Spicing up your toppings for your yogurt, allows you to stick with plain yogurt to avoid the additives and sugars they add to the flavored yogurts while still making it taste delicious.
1. Add granola:
There are so many ways to make granola at home, and even some really good options at the grocery store. This will add crunch and different texture to your yogurt. And a great tip is if you are out of granola and still want a crunch, you can substitute that for plain cheerios!
2. Add fresh fruit:
This will give the plain yogurt more flavor, more nutrients, and more texture! Some of my favorite combinations are-
fresh strawberries and bananas
frozen mixed berries
chopped kiwis and pomegranate seeds
fresh pineapple, peaches, and mango
3. Add nuts and seeds:
This again gives your yogurt some crunch and texture and adds in healthy fats as well! Some examples that I like to use are-
chia seeds
chopped walnuts
pumpkin seeds
chopped pecans
sliced almonds
4. Spices:
Spices are so underrated when it comes to additions to yogurt. Some very tasty ones are-
cinnamon
nutmeg
cardamom
vanilla extract
other extracts that you like
5. Other:
There are so many options but here are some other toppings you can add that are healthy and delicious-
honey
dried fruits
coconut flakes
dark chocolate
raisins
